Victorine Meurend: Are you saying that Niklas Luhmann understands what Conceptual Art thought it had to do?
Michael Baldwin: "Under the conditions of autonomy, this means that art must surpass itself and eventually reflect upon its own surpassing of itself." There are few other remarks that capture the improbable requirements on a Conceptual Art of around 1968-70.
Mel Ramsden: Most observers bring either a disappointed sense of "taste" or a frustrated sense of "meaning" to it. Luhmann reminded us that there was a social and sociological dimension at work in Conceptual Art, rather than, as is usually assumed, just a "philosophical" one.

Der Geschäftszweck der Jackson Pollock Bar - als wesentlicher Unternehmens- teil neben dem Barbetrieb im Freiburger Theater - ist die Installation von Theorien (Playback-Performances des ästhetischen Diskurses).
Zur Eröffnung der Ausstellung "Too dark to read" von Art & Language im Musée d'art moderne Lille Métropole am 17. Januar 2002 finden in der Jackson Pollock Bar Lounge die Performances "Interview: Art & Language's Too Dark to Read" und "Art & Language's Conversation: We Aim to Be Amateurs" statt (11.30 Uhr und 16.00 Uhr).
Die Performances dauern jeweils ca. 45 Minuten.
SchauspielerInnen: Anna Wouters, Martin Horn und Peter Cieslinski.
